Dr. Charles Surgery 2.jpgHill Regional Hospital surgery department offers the convenience of same day surgery and, when needed, inpatient care while providing a warm and caring atmosphere.

Hill Regional Hospital performs many Same Day Surgeries. Patients usually enter the Hospital in the morning and go home between two and one-half to six hours later. Many diagnostic procedures can also be performed on an outpatient basis, making Hill Regional a convenient and comprehensive healthcare facility.

When a surgical procedure requires a patient to stay overnight, our Medical / Surgical Unit offers personalized care to help you through your stay.

General Surgery includes most everything from breast biopsies to major open bowel surgery, from open surgeries to laparoscopic procedures:
  • Abdominal Surgery
  • Carpal Tunnel Procedures
  • Hernia Repairs
  • Polyp Removal
  • Breast Biopsies
  • Mastectomies
  • Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat
  • Tonsillectomy
  • Laser Eye Treatment
  • Cataract Surgery
  • Endoscopy uses a flexible instrument inserted through the mouth or the rectum in order to view internal organs. Endoscopes utilize a video chip and strobe light to capture images displayed on a video monitor. This allows careful visual inspection of the surface of the organ being examined.
Generally, these procedures are performed with mild sedation, so that there is minimal discomfort. Our preparation is tailored to your needs:

Preparing For Your Surgical Procedure
  • Carefully follow your physician’s instructions prior to your surgical procedure. This will allow you to avoid unnecessary delays and/or cancellations.
  • At the time your surgery is scheduled, you will be scheduled for a pre-op time. When you register for a pre-op time, please bring the following information:
    • your insurance information, including Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security card, drivers license, employee information & name & phone number of a contact person.
    • a list of all medication you are taking
  • Then, you will be interviewed by an OR nurse-all pre-op teaching will be done at that time.
  • The day of surgery, DO NOT BRING ANY ITEMS OF VALUE WITH YOU.
  • Remember to prepare for a ride home by a responsible adult prior to arriving the day of your surgery.
REMEMBER: Please tell us of any changes in your health, even a mild cold or flu. Also it is important to not smoke for two weeks before your surgery.
