The Hillsboro Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 99th annual awards banquet Friday, May 14, at the HILCO Civic and Event Center in Itasca.
The banquet will begin at 6 p.m. and include the presentation of annual awards, dinner and silent and live auctions. Tickets for this year's event are now sold out.
Awards presented this year will include Citizen of the Year Mark Roden, Local Business of the Year Hill Regional Hospital, Regional Business of the Year IKO Southwest and Farm Family of the Year P&M Farms of Abbott.
Citizen of the year Mark Roden has been instrumental in the formation and success of the Hillsboro Sports Association (HSA). He has served on the board, worked concessions, led the soccer program, assisted with basketball and baseball and coaches teams every year.
He has been active in Hillsboro youth sports since before the HSA was formed, and he continues to make it a year-round priority.
Roden moved to Hillsboro as a teenager and graduated from Hillsboro High School. He has been involved with parent-teacher organizations and is a veteran of Desert Storm, serving in the United States Army.
He lives in Hillsboro with his wife, Kathy, and their three children.
